T41p Wireless LAN problem

#1 Post by J.B. » Mon Jan 17, 2005 7:32 pm

Hi guys,

I recently discovered the reason that keeps my wireless (802.11g) disconnected all the times. It turns out to be caused by the GSM mobile phone I have! I noticed whenever the phone is nearby and has activities (e.g. a call or SMS received or sent..etc), the wireless immeidately went dead. In that case, I'd need to shut down the PC (power off) and restart to get myself back online. Does anyone here have a similiar problem? This "interefence" problem seems very odd to me because 802.11b/g and GSM are operating at very different frequencies?

I'd really appreciate any input to solve this problem. It is really driving me nuts. I don't want to have to turn of my mobile phone when I need to get online from my T1p.

I am using the lastest a/b/g card driver and Access Connections from IBM.

Thanks

Are you sure? I have a GSM mobile phone, and a GSM wireless NIC, and and 11 a/b/g NIC. The phone does not disconnect the other two. Strange. ... JD Hurst

Yeah I know it's very strange. As I haven't had that problem before while using with other wireless AP (D-Link 900AP). I started having this while after I changed the wireless gear to ASUS WL-500g. But at the same time, I have updated to new versions of a/b/g Mini card's driver....

Any thoughts

Hi guys,

after a few experiments, I start suspecting it's got something to do with the lastest a/b/g Wireless Mini PCI driver (version 3.1.102.27a, 1XWc16WW). Does anyone know where I could get the previous drivers (e.g. Version 3.1.102.23, 1XWC11WW)?

Thanks in advance
