T42 won't suspend or Hibernate

#1 Post by sagara » Wed Jan 07, 2009 6:09 pm

I haven't used my T42 for a while - been using my Dell PC - but I need it as I'm travelling now. The problem is it won't go into Suspend or Hibernate. I tried re-installing the Power Management driver, and the Battery MaxiMiser and Power Management Features, but anything I set it just ignores - except that when I close the lid, it does bleep but does not go into suspend mode as set. When I select Suspend either by Fn F4, or using XP's Suspend, or selecting it from Windows Task Manager, the HDD goes active for a while, then stops and freezes - I can only turn off the TP by holding down the Power Button.

:(

There should be some task that is preventing the Sleep or Hibernation modes. Check and see if there are any recent hardware and software additions. Run a virus check also.

I haven't added anything - software of hardware - and a virus check draws a blank. However, in a few hours I'm flying to San Francisco from the UK, so I'll have another look when I arrive.

Thanks,

Robert
