Battery Blues

Hello All -

My first post....Thanks for website, what a great place for IBM thinkpad information....
I have a question. I purchased a used IBM T42 off ebay. Everything works great except for the battery. The original battery had problems. It fully charged to 100%, but when it ran down to 70%,within a few mins "low battery warning" and done. So, I purchased a so called 'NEW" battery off ebay that was shipped from China. Guess what, it is doing the same thing...

My question....is it the battery(s) or wronf something with the laptop. The thinkpad works fine on a wall charger and even a car charger. But it will not keep a charge for more than 30 mins on the battery. I tried recondtioning the battery as well.

Maybe I just got hold of two bad batteries?

I personally don't trust china batteries, It is possible to get 2 bad batteries, does battery recharge?

Sorry, I think I posted this in the wrong forum. Can anyone provide a good source to a buy a new battery for a T42? I have searched the marketplace forum on here, but I didn't see any batteries for sale.

Lenovo's website has new "Scratch and Dent" batteries at blowout prices.

I ordered a ThinkPad X60 Series 8 Cell 'scratch and dent' and it arrived today. The box had a small dent in it, but was factory sealed. The battery inside was brand new.
