Jeez, this is only my luck. When I ordered my T42 a week and a half ago it was listed (and what I paid for) at $2199 plus tax plus shipping. Now it's listed on the web site for $1999. I work in retail and I get it al the time where my company will list in ad in the paper a week after someone purchases an item and I then have to refund them the difference. Does IBM do the same? I'm a poor college student and every peny helps. And for those of you who ask, "Why buy such an expensive laptop?" Well I should of done it first to begin with instead of buying the POS dell laptop in the first place :x . My laptop is the 2379DXU.

You should have 30 day return policy with full refund right?

Why don't you return it and just reorder the same model?

Or better yet, call IBM and ask if there is a refund policy if the price drops within 30 days of purchase. If IBM says that there is no such refund then just return it and order it again.

Bummer for sure. But isn't that the joy of comitting to technology, the minute you purchase, the prices begin to drop! ;-)

Press them for a refund of the $200.

If you used a credit card to make the purchase, call the CC company. Many of them offer "Price Protection" plans to cover exactly this eventuality.

There is a 30-day price guarantee. Call IBM and they will gladly refund the difference. I know because it happened to me.

CrazyJeeper, since you bought your T422379DXU the price came down $200. It looks like you paid the regular IBM Web Price. Few people seem to know the Web Price is easy to beat with a Visa or education discount.

http://www.ibm.com/education/us
http://www.ibm.com/businesscenter/visa

They each offer the T42 2379DXU for $1,799.10 -- a total of $400 less than you paid! Call IBM and negotiate, or return and reorder.

Thru the end of the Jan. '05 there's a $100 off MS Office deal too.

CrazyJeeper,

Don't feel that bad... I ordered my 2379dxu on 12/8.... since its already past the 30 days I doubt IBM would match the price and I can't return it anyways. Give them a call and see what they say.
