Hi,
New owner of X22 and a T21 courtesy of Ebay!
Have searched for this bit of info about the T21 on this board but found nothing - can anyone confirm what UDMA mode my hard drive in the T21 should be running at. At the moment it is UDMA 2 whereas the X22 is UDMA 5.
HD Tach brought up an issue with performance on the T21 yesterday and I discovered it was running in PIO mode. Following some Googled advice about restoring DMA and the performance is much better now but I did think it should be UDMA 5.
Any advice/inf appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Jonathan
T21 - Ultra DMA mode
UDMA
It appears from the Intel web site that UDMA 2 is the maximum with this chipset. Get the IDE controller information from device manager and search for that description at www.intel.com support.
I found this out yesterday because I've got the same problem. Now I'm wondering whether the cost/benefit of a 5400 or 7200 rpm drive is worth it.
