Where can I download or get installation cd/image for it?

T40

You can't download it, unless someone hosts the .iso files. You can either call Lenovo and purchase a set from them or you can also put a request for the discs in the Marketplace forum here. Expect to pay @ $50 from Lenovo. EBay would be a third option.

Yeah, downloaded bunch of .iso files (oem sp2 etc.), but no-one seems to work. Searched also ebay and no luck.

Thanks, but that is little too expensive. Do you know what kind of .iso I need to look for? Does general XP Pro OEM SP1 work?

Yes, an OEM XP install disc would work with the COA on the bottom of the machine. Your .iso question does not make sense. The .iso could be called anything.

Ofcourse it can. But what has to be right? Can I install from SP2 or SP3 OEM also? Or do I need SP1?

OEM general or manufacture specific?
Language?

I don't think the service pack or language matters. It should work.

When installing from generic OEM XP discs, keep in mind to first download your Thinkpad-specific drivers from Lenovo and burn them on a CD/DVD. So you can install them right after installing the OS.

I noticed there is a code on the COA sticker that will tell you what version of windows you need to use the COA on your laptop.

the code is something like this on the left side of the sticker: X10-23533

i was able to use a dell restore disc with the COA on a t23 with no problems by using that code to find out what I needed.
