Where to buy screw caps

#1 Post by doylnea » Mon Jan 12, 2009 3:12 pm

I replaced my XGA LCD over the weekend with an SXGA+ LCD. I can't believe how much better I like my T41 now with all the extra real estate. However, because this is the second time (I got a UXGA screen working in my T41 a year ago) the screw caps don't stick any longer.

Does anyone have a source for the T series screw caps?

Thanks.

Over in ebay stores, search for store name "wibony".

I haven't personally tried this but...

Find the thinnest double-sided clear tape that you can find. Put a strip of the tape on some waxy paper (i.e., something the tape won't readily stick to). Place the screw cover on the tape. Use an X-ACTO knife to cut around the cover's outline. Remove from wax paper and install on the laptop.

Thanks! The seller appears to have the trackpoints, but not the screw caps right now. I'll add the seller to my watch list and see if anything pops up in the future.

[censored] that's clever! That would be great for the adhesive portion, but in some cases, the caps have gotten bent. For now I superglued them on - we'll see if I need to go with your suggestion.

Thanks.

Don't forget to use rubbing alcohol or something similar to clean the surfaces before putting them on, they'll stick extra good then ;)

Thanks - I was searching for screw caps, since I think that's what they're called in the HMM. However, following ozoux's suggestion, I searched for "screws cover," and there are tons of them on eBay, and they're cheap!

Thanks again!
