T42 - Screen flickers on/off and finally stays off

#1 Post by ryan » Mon Jan 12, 2009 9:59 pm

About 15 minutes after booting my T42, the screen begins flickering off and then back on. About 2 minutes later, the screen stays off. The rest of the computer works, it's just the graphics card (ATI).

I tried plugging a monitor in, and I get the same results.

If I let it sit for awhile, I can start it up again and get 15 minutes without it going off.

First: Is your T42 still under warranty? Check this via the Warranty Lookup. If so, lucky you - if not, read on...

You may want to check the sticky at the top of this (T4x) forum: T42 shuts down when I move it. Also, try the tests mentioned in the tests mentioned in the thread T41P shuts off with internal monitor - more precisely those mentioned in this post. What is the outcome of these tests?
