CMOS hack
Get the no-1802 program. Make a boot disk, copy the file toboot disk. Run theboot disk on start up, then execute the no-1802 program. Install the card, you are are good to go.

FWIW, the linux version of no-1802 also works fine (again at http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~mjg59/thinkpad/hacks.html). I now use the Intel Wireless/Pro 2915 a/b/g card without problems. Last time I checked, that card was still not offered by IBM
