Static discharge on ThinkPad case - ouch!

#1 Post by K. Eng » Wed Jan 19, 2005 7:28 pm

It is pretty cold and dry now where I am and I keep static shocking myself on my ThinkPad's case (the magnesium LCD lid as well as the bottom titanium composite).

This isn't harmful to the machine is it?
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

I keep shocking random parts like the pcmia ports, the laptop hinges or keyboard etc. what are hte odd's the ocmputer will break? note this is all from one certain work location where the floor are all carpeted. I could juts avoid bringing my laptop and using the desktops if it's that bad for it.

get a humidifier in your room

Thinkpads can withstand humidity of 5-95%
