Ultrabay battery issues - for a TR 451 ;)

#1 Post by madkat » Wed Jan 28, 2009 7:36 am

Just bought a used IBM OEM Sanyo Ultrabay battery - and i have some issues with it:

- first - how it's supposed to be charging? only AFTER the main battery is fully charged? - can it be made to charge simultaneously?
- second - can it run only on the ultrabay battery?
- third - in order to keep the main battery in good shape - can i use the TP only with the ultrabay battery? when plugged in - that is...

thanks

btw - battery seems ok - NHC reports a 41% wear, almost 14000mWh when full - now just started to charge

1a) yes, 1b) no
2) yes
3) yes

Notes:
The UltraBay battery will always drain fully before switching to the main battery.
The main battery has to charge fully before the UltraBay battery will begin charging (to charge the UltraBay battery first (or when you like), just remove the main battery.

thank you for the answers :)

so - if this is teh behavior - the "big" battery to stay "untouched" until the ultrabay drains - it's ok to keep the both connected - only the ultrabay taking the "stress" of plugging in/out of the mains

off: - the battery in 41% wear state gave me an extra hour of battery life
