USB Port not working since waking up
USB Port not working since waking up
The bottom USB port on my T42 has stopped working. It was working just fine until one day this week the laptop went to sleep, when I came back from lunch I woke it up and noticed my mouse wasn't working anymore, plugged it into the top, works fine.
Tried my thumbdrive, power is applied but windows doesn't detect it. Tried my camera, same thing, tried my ipaq, same thing.
I've deleted the USB ports root hub and controllers and still nothing.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Hey Paland
I have been having the exact same problem, but trying to remedy the problem has been a horror story. I have a 2373KTU (T42p) and have sent it in to IBM 3 times since mid December trying to correct the issue. My USB devices worked perfectly for the first four months I had the laptop, then one day, the ports decided to die. Each time I send it to the depot, they replace the system board and update the BIOS. After I receive the laptop, everything seems to be working fine for about 24 hours, but then, the USB ports stop working. As I said, this has happened three times for me. I actually just received my laptop back again today, but now the notebook doesn't detect the hard drive (another faulty system board). If you contact IBM, they will tell you to uninstall and reinstall the USB controller and root hubs, and when that doesn't work, they will ask you to send the thinkpad to the depot. I am expecting a call within the next hour from a customer relationship representative, because the LTA (supervisor) filed a complaint. I am expecting a brand new laptop, but preferably, a refund. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Just so I understand correctly, is it that the USB ports fail to work ever again even after a reboot, or is that that they won't work after resuming from standby and they start working after a reboot? I've seen this countless times, but since my Thinkpad doesn't get here until some time next week (Wednesday?), I won't be able to test anything on IBM hardware...
