Bluetooth A2DP

#1 Post by sinc » Sun Feb 08, 2009 12:00 am

Can my internal bluetooth adapter send audio using A2DP? In device manager it calls it bluetooth III. I want to send audio to a bluetooth audio receiver. I assume it is too old, but can it be made to send A2DP audio somehow? I imagine it will be easier just to get a dongle, but I thought I'd ask.

Hope this question is clear!!!

Looking thru the Client Applications in Advanced Configurations, it doesn't look like the IBM/Lenovo BT stack supports it. Windows Vista and Windows 7's MS BT stack should support it.

What does that mean in terms of possibilities? Impossible unless I change to Vista or 7? Or only possible with a separate dongle?

Thanks

If the dongle supports it then it should work. Likely it will be a pretty new name brand dongle. The very cheap dongle I got used the Windows BT stack in XP.

In comparing my T42p BT and T60 BT stack Client Applications list, the T60 BT stack has many more items such as:

Imaging
Human Interface Device
Printer
Audio Gateway
Headset

You can try installing the BT stack from T60 and see if it works.

Looking thru the various BT software for T42, T43 and T60; it seems the enhanced data rate software supports T43, T60. The T42 software is very old dated 2004.

So there should be high rate of success with the newest enhanced data rate software would work on T43. Success using the new stack on T42 is unknown. I will try it later.

Thanks for the help. As I don't own a bluetooth receiver yet- and I don't want to buy one unless I know it will work- I'm trying to figure out beforehand if it will. I could try to install the t60 driver but I wouldn't really know if it worked until I tried it. I suppose I could always get the dongle if it didn't work.

Thanks again

If you want to have full featured BT support on the T42p with a XP system you need to make sure the XP BT stack is disabled and the Lenovo IBM Integrated BT II stack is installed correctly. The drivers provided by Lenovo do work but require some fiddling. I use my integrated BT (T42p XP3P) to link with my stereo BT headset as speaker/headphones sometimes, so I believe a BT receiver should work also.
