Call of Duty with IBM FireGL Driver?

#1 Post by mad_medic77 » Sat Jan 22, 2005 11:38 am

Hi everybody,

big compliments for your great Thinkpad Forum!

I've got a problem playing Call Of Duty with my Laptop. CoD starts in safe mode and after 10 secs. the Game hangs up and can only be stopped with killing the task in the taskmanager.

Has anyone played CoD with his Thinkpad? It's a great game and I don't understand, why one shouldn't be able to play it on a Thinkpad with a firegl card.

If anyone has suggestions, I would be very grateful.

modded Catalyst Driver won't work either.

Hi,

I've tried something. There's a modding tool at Driverheaven.com, which allows you to mod the standard Catalyst Driver to match your mobile ATI Card. I've downloaded the newest 5.1 Cataylst and the 4.12 Catalyst Driver. With the Catalyst 5.1, I couldn't adjust the screen resolution to 1400x1050, so I uninstalled it. After that I tried the modded 4.12, since it was reported to support the SXGA+ resolution. It worked out and I'm now running my machine at 1400x1050.
After that a gave CoD a try, but I got a warning that the OpenGL driver couldn't be loaded and the game quit.
My Question: Do I have to adjust something in the driver settings to get the OpenGl driver running? Has anyone played CoD with an alternate driver on his Thinkpad?

Any input would be greatly apprechiated!

Reagards,

It's certainly playable on my A31, with the Rage Mobility 9500 I believe and 768 ram. Was just about as playable with 512 also.
