T42 to T41 Hdd swap

Hi,

I could swap a t42 (1.6gHz, 512 MB 14 inch xga, bt, wlan b/g) for a t41(almost p: 1.7 Ghz sxga +, 1GB, bt, wlan abg) for free.

Now I have some questions:
Can I just swap the harddisks, or do I have to reinstall Win XP?
Will the harddisk swap in the other direction be problematic?
I have the original XP from IBM on there will there be an activation problem?

Is there any argument against such a swap? ( I do notneed GB lan)

The swap should be very easy, no activation issues, maybe reinstall of a driver or two. Both have gigabit lan so that's not the issue. One thing the T42 has is battery charge control.

I've done this. A few drivers get screwed up - but generally you can boot (might need safe mode - but probably not) - and then update some drivers. Usually wireless drivers need to be replaced.

worked perfect, only problem was that I had to deinstall access connections with all save profiles & reinstall, since it was not possible to change the wlan-card used in the profiles. ( or at least no obvious one).

Strange side effect: the Battery software is running fine on the t41(p) (type number says t41p, lcd cover says t41). I was convinced that it would not.

Yes, the newer version of power manager works fine on some older platforms even the accompanied text file indicated otherwise.
