Lcd problems

#1 Post by tomb » Mon Feb 16, 2009 10:20 am

I am new to this forum so please be patient. My display goes very dim. Alot of reading both here and elsewhere told me it had to be the inverter board. I changed the board and it doing the same thing. I can get it back by either pushing the lid closed button or function F7. When changing the board I did notice that the wire ribbon feeding it is creased or folded in half. Does that have anything to do with it or where should I go from here? HELP!!!

It could be the cable or more commonly the CCF in the LCD is going out. Find a complete assembly and change it will be the easiest solution and rather inexpensive today.

how hard is it to change the ccf. I am fairly capable. I tackled the motherboard on my dell laptop and some things on my desktops

There is a screw map posted here somewhere. For 14 inch versions, just remove the palmrest, KB and KB bezel. Pull out the WiFi/BT antennae wires from the plastic spacer. There are one screw on top left and four screws on the case back that secure the LCD, one screw on the LCD connector.
