Which high-capacity 9-cell battery for T42p?

#1 Post by tpham33 » Mon Feb 16, 2009 3:43 pm

I am considering buying one of the following "high-capacity" (7200 mAH) 9-cell batteries for my T42p.
One is from Pacific Battery, the other is made by Denaq.
Wondering if anyone has experience with them and could tell me which one is better?

Thanks.

I don't have any experience with either of those batteries (or any non-genuine IBM/Lenovo batteries for that matter) but people here generally seem to recommend genuine IBM/Lenovo batteries and staying away from non-genuine ones. What's wrong with getting two 6-cell batteries from the Lenovo outlet?

Two 6-cells aren't as convenient as one 9-cell...

Sorry I cannot answer the question in your OP but would like to add the following:

Bought two different 9-cell batteries over the years. One is a Lenovo FRU P/N 92P1077 (10.8v 7.2AH), the other a knockoff (brand unknown, replaces FRU 02K8214, 10.8v 6600mh).

Performance wise they both work well but the higher capacity in the Lenovo makes for longer run time (see this post). Interestingly, the weight difference between the two is obvious (Lenovo weighs 10% more). Cost of the Lenovo was around $78, cost of knockoff around $58. If I had to buy over, would search and search for LENOVO's battery and HOPE to find one!

Lastly, the longevity of the Lenovo 9-cell is GREAT but it does add extra weight. I'll take the T41 with a 9-cell around town, to friends house in the automobile, but would never take it for extended air travel (way too heavy). Your posts do not state the purpose for wanting a higher capacity battery but weight may be a consideration.
