S-Video question

#1 Post by ThinkPad » Sun Jan 23, 2005 5:39 pm

Can I just connect the computer to a tv via a S video cable and it should appear on the TV screen? Or is there any configuration needed?

You'll probably have to drop your screen resolution to get a decent picture. Also, if you are plaing back media such as a DVD, you will probably need to make the TV the primary monitor, otherwise the playback window will appear as a black box. This change can be done in the Display properties control panel.

S video

i use my IBM to view movies on the tv.
my t42 has a program, (f5) key, that allows you to set video options.
once you set it 1024x768, dvd's look perfect on the tv.

This looks easier then I thought. Im going to get a cable tomorrow and try it out.

Also my F5 does nothing, but F7 switches to external monitor

Is the SVHS port an output port only? Or can it be used to import video from an external source?

I plugged the cable from my T30 into the tv- no image. I also turned my computer and turned it back on still no image. Hit F7 as well, no luck.
What am I doing wrong?

you need to press f7, let the presentation program open and set it for one of the options that look best on ur tv. I created a user one, looks great...

when playing videos, movies etc. you have to select your TV as the primary set if not it will show only in your laptop. Go to Display Properties>Settings>Advance>Displays and check the corresponding box. This will display the movie in your tv, and now your laptop will display blank...
X220t IPS but but a bit unhappy with it
T60p 2007-93U 1600x1200 IPS (T42p is an overall better machine though. Lack of new IPS Thinkpads keeps me buying these older models!)
T42p 2373-KXU 1600x1200 IPS (The best ever!!)
