T40 Porcessor Problem

#1 Post by atct86 » Mon Jan 24, 2005 10:29 pm

I used the windows xp system information tool and noticed that my T40 was running at 598mhz. It should be running at 1.5 ghz.

I looked in the control panel, and tinkpad confihuation but could not find a setting to fix it.

What should I do.

Are you running on the battery? If so, then intel has a "neat" little feature to throttle your processor down to 600MHz conserve battery life. You can change the power settings in Battery MaxiMiser to "Disable Shut-off Timers." This should give maximum performance. You could also venture into the BIOS and disable speedstep (the feature that throttles the CPU down to 600MHz.)

Hope this helps

also make sure in battery maximizer it's set to max performance.

you can also download speedswitchxp and see if that rectifys your issue.
