Difference between infrared and Bluetooth (t41) ?
Difference between infrared and Bluetooth (t41) ?
hi, i'm confused. are these 2 different things? do they use the same hardware (like that little black tab on the lower left front of the case)? thanks
The little black window on the front left of your Thinkpad is IR, which can transmit data only by line-of-sight. So you have to have the receiving device within a certain range and nothing can block it to work. BT operates on a radio frequency, and although it too has a certain operating range, it can be much further than IR and does not require a certain LOS. Also, BT has much higher bandwidth, thus it is faster in most cases. Hope that answers your questions (and I hope I'm right
