The T30 will actually go to 2GB MAX and not the 1GB quoted by IBM.

You can also upgrade the processor to 2.6GHz, but they cost an absolute fortune!

If you have 2 x 512MB on your machine you'll need to buy 2 x 1GB modules....

yea I have two 512 sticks. I assume a GIG stick is going to cost a hefty amount. Anyone have any good sources for purchase.

http://dealram.com/ if you're comfortable with "generic" RAM.

Kingmax http://www.kingmax.com/kmt/index.htm is another good "offbrand" supplier.

Are there any known risks with installing a generic branded ram chip?

Sure, everything from it doesn't work to a fried MB! But, RAM is more often weighed on the reputation of the seller and their warranty. This is the reason that I most often tell folks to get their RAM from Crucial.

But if you've got a thin wallet, there are other sources for "good" RAM than Crucial.
