Will Dothan 2.0 overheat my ATi FireGL on T41p?

#1 Post by muckz » Thu Mar 05, 2009 6:35 pm

I have 2373-GGU, just ordered 2.0 GHz Dothan from ebay.

Read a lot of threads on this forum pertaining to Banias -> Dothan 2.0/2.1 GHz upgrade, and some report overheating the GPU. Everyone had different videocards, but I did not read anything about FireGL that mine comes with.

At least it will probably produce more heat than your CPU you have now. But the question is what kind of CPU are you equipped at this moment ? :)

If OP still has the original 1.7 Banias, heat will not go up by a huge margin.

May I suggest upgrading to a "long" fan as well?

Indeed, it is Banias 1.7 GHz.

I will do a search later on about this long fan, how to obtain it and install it... Thanks!!
