External mice

#1 Post by ThinkPad » Tue Jan 25, 2005 4:06 pm

For some reason I cannot connect an external mouse via USB on my T30. The mouse works on another computer, and the USB port works with another device. It is an IBM mouse, model no MU08T. When I plug it in it makes the "device plugged in" sound, but cursor does not move.

I tried plugging in another external mouse recieved the same error.
What going wrong here
Thanks

As I use my TP as a desktop replacement I use a USB mouse all the time.
I've had no problems at all, I'm running Windows 2000 SP4 on a T30.

In your post it seems to indicate that you plug the mouse in after you've brought up Windows. I realise this may sound obvious but have you tried booting with the USB mouse already plugged in ? (that's what I do).

Have you checked your device manager to make sure your system is recocgnizing your mouse properly?

I have had problems with my T41 and mice: not every mouse works or is recognized. Before you get too far invested in this one, try another mouse and see if that works.
