PC2100???

I have a new Thinkpad T42 2373-M3U and I was looking through the specs when I got it and found it ships with PC 2100 RAM. I added a 512mb stick of Crucial 2700 that I had from my last laptop but I'm curious... Do the Dothans perform any better with 2700 RAM or is that a limitation of the chipset? Also, how hard is it to upgrade the built-in 512mb of RAM to 2700 if I need to?
