no video on external monitor?
Hey guys, I just hooked up my brand new Samsung 710-N and it's a sweet monitor. Very crisp images. One problem though, everything displays properly except any type of video...it just won't show. Windows media player and everything will be all displayed, but the video won't, I can only hear sound. This works on every type of video, DVD, avi, etc. Any ideas why? BTW, I've got the video set (Fn + F7) so that the laptop screen is displaying as well as the external monitor displaying both at the same resolution, 1280 x 1024. Thanks!
There is a hardware accelleration subsystem that allows MPEG to display on one monitor only. (really this relates to the refresh rates the integrated LCD uses vs the external monitor, but lets not go into that) If you disable this in the current video driver, shifting the burden for MPEG decompression to the main processor, it will display on both. Must have most current video driver. Display Properties > Settings tab > Advanced (button) > Overlay > Clone Mode Options
