hdd shock protection lacking on new t42s??
hdd shock protection lacking on new t42s??
I recently had to swap T42's and with the current machine I noticed a few strange changes.
I used to have an icon for some HDD shock protection - and kind of liked the idea. this new T42, although its the same model 2379DXU it doesnt have that icon - does it mean ibm has taken the feature off? or its just not currently enabled??
many thanks

Click START|Settings|Control Panel, and look for the IBM Active Protection icon. If it's there, double-click it and select "Show Active Protection Icon on the system tray".
If it's not there, simply download the Active Protection System applet from the IBM website, and install it. All T Series support the Active Protection System.

got it - thanks! I also noticed some some other changes in the config - any chance somebody could attach a screenshot of their control panel to helpme check what else they didnt install this time - I think I am also mssing the IBM/intel conection manager, which I found to be more stable than the microsoft one.
thanks.

No - it doesn't work like that at all. If my machine is not moving, the air-bag (anti-shock) software has no impact on performance. It only activates when the computer detects a shock. ...
