T40 Wi-Fi to T41
T40 Wi-Fi to T41
Hello all,
I have a T40 which quit working (unless I'm pushing down on the keyboard) that I would like to dissect. I bought a T41 but it doesn't have built in Wi-Fi like my T40 has/had.
Will someone point me in the right direction on how to pull the Wi-Fi parts out on my T40 and into my T41?
Is this even possible?
Please excuse my ignorance.
Chris

Re: T40 Wi-Fi to T41
Most, but not all, T41s came with WiFi antennas installed in the LCD display whether or not they came with a WiFi card installed (that is, the were WiFi ready).
So, if you are lucky, all you will need to do is transfer the WiFi card from your deaf T40 into the T41. The T4x HMM (Hardware Maintennance Manual), which can be found on the Lenovo web site, will show you want needs to be done.
Cheers,
Bill B.

Thanks Bill.
How can I tell if there's a card already built in to the new T41? I'm using a plug-in card right now. It came with the machine so I assumed it didn't have one built in.

Remove the keyboard and palmrest to access the wireless card.

Re: T40 Wi-Fi to T41
If indeed I do swap the card, is there anything I need to do software-wise (Bios?) or should I just expect it to work?

You'll need to load the device driver for it. You should take note of what is written on the card when you do the transfer. That should give you a good indication of what model it is.cperalta1 wrote:is there anything I need to do software-wise
