T42p reflow question

Hi, i need to make the reflow for the gpu. I see a white very glued heatsink with gpu. My question is really necesary remove this heatsink for reflow? i see is a little hard because is really hard glued.

I don't think the white stuff is glue - it's probably thermal grease (although IBM usually used a heat pad on the GPU). It dries and gets hard with age. You should be able to get the heatsink off by lifting and twisting a little. Just be careful.

HI, thx for reply , but the white thing is heatsink glued with gpu...i try to take a picture of the situation...greets!

Hi i take a shot of the mb, you see the white heatsink of gpu, is need to remove for reflow? if i try, is like very glued...any tip?

another question for add, sorry, is necesary re glue lie with alumina thermal adhesive, the cupper heatsink with gpu?

It is attached with thermal adhesive. (as opposed to thermal paste) You can attach with paste. (thin layer above the piece to make contact with the fan, and a layer below to attach to GPU and video memory)
