I've already talked to the sales rep from IBM; still deciding on whether to order the T43 or wait for the release of the T43p model.

Just a neophyte question: does the "p" in T43 stand for "performance"? I didn't find an explanation for this on IBM's website.

Thanks.

Phenomenal!

Perfect!

Powerful!

But I'm biased. ;-)

I belive it is either performance or professional:

Heres 2 comments to that effect that have been in previous posts:

The "p" does stand for performance. It's the top of the line and has better LCD, graphics, multimedia, etc. than p-off models. The only difference is the GPU nothing else AFAIK.

It actually stands for 'professional' and it is used for any model that has OpenGL drivers that have been certified with a large number of professional applications - mostly CAD.

Not to mention the ultrafast 7200 RPM 60GB drives in the P models.

My T42 that I bought in July 2004 isn't a P, and it is "performance". It has the radeon 9600, 14" 1400x1050 display, "high speed" (5400 rpm) 80gb drive. Are the "p" models the ones with the Firegls?

Yes, you're right :)
The "p" are for CAD coz you can get an extra 7K60 on a T4* and you've the same for less + 1600x1200 is very small
