Persistent custom memory timings on t4x - which tool?

#1 Post by netzspannung » Wed Apr 15, 2009 7:36 am

Hi all!

I am running 2gb of Kingston pc 3200 DRAM in my beloved T42 Flexview. The default timings are 2.5-3-3-7, however it runs fine with 2-2-2-5, as I have found out with i855 tool. Only one problem - the timings are reset to default on every resume from standby\hibernation, so I have to run a batch file every time... I would like to know if there is a util that works in a more permanent way, maybe runs as service?

Should I use SPDtool? I am afraid of it ))

BTW, my sandra score for memory bandwith is really low - around 1.6gb/s .
The tweaked timings don't make the machine quicker, but it really seems a bit more responsive in general use - like page scrolling. Maybe a placebo thing?

On my other machines, a 512 (2x 256mb Infineon) R50 and on a t41 running 1gb of generic ibm pc2700 memory it averages 2.0 gb/s easily. Is this a limitation of running two 1gb sticks or is pc3200 a bad choice? They don't have 2700 sodimms in stock here anymore.

Thanx for any input

You can use the SPDTools. See my post in this topic for a instruction.
