T42 SXGA+ screen on a T40

Hi there,

I've searched around but not found a definitive answer. Will a screen from a T42 (2373-8XG SXGA+ 1400x1050) work on a T40 (2373-82G) which comes with an XGA panel? I've heard that the Radeon 7500 32mb can drive an SXGA panel in most cases. Is it just a matter of removing the panel with cable and inverter and swapping it over?

Yes, this will work, but you do need to swap the entire panel with the correct LCD cable and inverter intact.

Just a heads up, some T4x users including myself had GPU problems and are looking into fixing it through a R51/52 motherboard replacement. The catch is that the 14.1" SXGA+ LCD does not work with the R51/52 boards. You may want to consider that before replacing. Check the sticky threads on T4x forums for details.

AFAIK a 14.1" SXGA+ screen is not supported by the Intel Extreme GPU as used in some of the R50/51, only XGA.
