Will T22 hard drive work in T40 ?

Hello,

My T22's motherboard has finally died, and I am eye-ing a T40 that has no hard drive and OS, and the T22 has a nice "high speed" (for back then) 5400 rpm 32gb drive.

So, will the T22's hard drive fit and operate in the T40 ?

( I'm just trying to get expert opinion and avoid some sort of unusual gotcha... )

Your T22's drive is probably 9.5mm thick. The T2x drive bay can accept a drive that's 12mm thick, but the only 12mm laptop drive I have doesn't have the same mounting holes needed for the T2x caddy and hard drive cover. So, assuming that your drive is 9.5mm thick then it will "fit" inside the T40 (upside down in relationship to how it's installed in the T22), but don't expect the operating system (if it's Windows) to boot correctly. The hardware differences are probably great enough that Windows will throw a fit (and probably a "blue screen") if you attempt to run the T22 installation inside the T40. Of course you could always re-install Windows on the drive and then it will work fine.
