FireGL T2 + Windows 7
I have just bought an R50P and have installed W7 on it. I initially installed build 7000, and installed the Lenovo XP driver for the FireGL T2 128mb. This worked fine, but Aero did not enable. I went to run a Windows Experience Index test to update the score so that Aero would auto-enable. However, the system consistently froze druing the process. I did a bit of googling and found that this problem was not present in the earlier builds. I therefore dug out my old 6801 build and did the same thing. This time the performance test runs to the end but then throws an error message preventing the scores updating. Has anyone got any tips for enabling Aero with the FireGL T2? Or any links to modifed drivers that will work? Thanks very much,
-S
Edit: Or is there a way to force Aero? (Google reveals a number of registry hacks based on Vista, but none of these work any more apparently).

Re: FireGL T2 + Windows 7
I modded the ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 successfully in Windows 7. Not everyone is reporting success though. I modded the 32-bit Windows Vista drivers for the 9600 from Windows 7.

Re: FireGL T2 + Windows 7
I have tried modding the Catalyst drivers, and ran through the install process fine. However, nothing seemed to actually change, despite the install log being free from errors. When you installed the modded drivers, did W7 pop up one of its taskbar balloons to say "installing drivers"? Mine never did...
Thanks,

Re: FireGL T2 + Windows 7
Hm, I have never seen this popup, neither under Win 7, nor under Vista, when installing some driver for my ATI card. The only problem that I had with modded ATI drivers under Win 7 was that the Catalyst suite doesn´t want to uninstall. ATI (un)installer just gets in some sort of cycle. This doesn´t seem to be the case with the ATI driver provided through windows 7 update, but it´s only a drive, the package doesn´t contain any CCC etc. Sorry for probably going off-topic with sharing this experience

Re: FireGL T2 + Windows 7
Update: I have installed build 7077, and through Windows update the driver problem has now resolved; after refreshing the Windows Experience Index I have Aero.

Re: FireGL T2 + Windows 7
I think the problem is that you are using an XP driver. Try a Vista driver and you should have better luck.

Re: FireGL T2 + Windows 7
I managed to install Catalyst Control Center and drivers on Windows 7 Professionall and now I have aero, opengl games working etc. Just needed this drivers for vista -http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/w ... sta32.aspx and moded it with http://www.hardwareheaven.com/modtool.php/. Then installed drivers by device manager, reboot and Cube/AssaultCube (opengl game) works with 100, not 1 fps. Also everything from CCC works. PM if need help, but i prefer polish
Re: FireGL T2 + Windows 7
@mamlecz - sincere thanks for the tip, worked perfectly for my T42p! I've had problems detecting an external monitor (DVI) connected thru the port replicator, using Win 7 + FireGL T2 driver supplied by Windows Update. Everytime I had to reboot docked to enable an external screen; now I can switch it on/off via CCC like with XP/2003 again - excellent!
