New Battery for T40: 6-Cell or Standard?

I'm about to get another battery for my T40, and I'm wondering if the 6-cell Li-Ion that sells for $159 (http://tinyurl.com/422ch) is really worth $30 more than the standard Li-Ion that sells for $129 (http://tinyurl.com/6t2ze)

I already have the High Capacity 9-cell Li-Ion battery, the one that sticks out from the back of the chassis almost an inch (http://tinyurl.com/58o9n), but it's too big and heavy, and it's actually a little loose, which is why I want to replace it with a standard-sized battery.

Any thoughts?

They're the SAME battery! I don't know why they're coming up with different prices, or even why the prices are different for me than what you posted.

I get $135.15 and $109.65 respectively.

It doesnt really say on the website, but the more expensive of the two batteries was just recently manufactured. The difference is, a lithium-ion battery starts losing its maximum capicity from the day that it is made, therefore, the one that has been manufactured most recently should in theory should hold a higher charge than the older battery.

I don't know if that is enough to justify the price difference, but to some users it might...

I don't know if they are the same, but according to information from some other forums, IBM also redesign battery for T43. The capacity of the new 6 cell battery is 4800 mAh, while the 9 cell one has 7200mAh capacity. So... I would say these a little more expensive batteries are the new one, but again, I don't know how to confirm it.

Actually, it looks like you're right!!

OLD 9-cell battery (6.6 Amp/Hr, the same one that came with my KXU):

What I'm not clear on is how the original poster even found the new batteries on the IBM web site...when I go to Accessories -> ThinkPads and click on batteries, the only ones it lists are the old ones.
