external monitor.. i have to 'scroll' around the screen
hi there,
i recently formatted my t42 and everything is going well except for one thing.
i'm trying to get the resolution on my 19 inch monitor to be the same as my thinkpad (1400x1050). before i had it working, but now when i choose 1400x1050, i have to 'scroll' around the image on the screen. what i'm trying to say is that it fills the monitor but some overhands the screen, so if i move my mouse to that side, it scolls and i can see that part of the image.
i hope that makes sense. i'm using the port replicator for it, and i know it was working before i reformatted. it's probably some dumb setting.
thanks!

What is the native resolution of your desktop LCD? The behavior you see is sometimes called a "virtual desktop" and happens when you set your resolution higher than the native resolution of the display (your laptop will do the same if you set it higher than 1440x1050). If your 19' monitor is only 1024x768 or 1280x1024 native, you'll have to step down to that.
You can also go into the Settings - Advanced - Displays tab in your display settings, and try "scale image to screen size," though I'm pretty sure that only works with scaling smaller screen resolutions UP, rather than the other way around, which may be what you need.

IBM ThinkPad T42p (2373-7XU): 1.8GHz/1024MB, 15" UXGA, DVD-RW, 80GB, 2200b/g.
T42 (2374-3VU): 1.7GHz/512MB, 14.1"SXGA+, DVD-RW, 80GB, 2200b/g.

If you had monitor connected to the DVI port on a dock, the answer would be simple. But a CRT on VGA... I don't know.
