Have my T41 in a dock, driving my panel at 1440*900 plus the laptop monitor running too. the panel is monitor 1, the laptop monitor 2. all lovely.
turn it off, remove from dock and use it elsewhere and it switches to just using the laptop screen
put it back into the dock, switch on and both monitors show same screen. it looses the resolution setting for the panel, and it doesn't keep it as monitor 1. so each time i reconnect i have to set up monitor 1 and 2, set resolution, extend the desktop etc.
only takes a couple of mins, but its a pita. any solutions?

Re: T41 duel monitor forgets setup
I have no answer, but wanted to say I have similar issues. Sometimes when I boot machine, it switches to external instead of internal. Sometimes when I resume machine while external was active as second desktop, instead it gives me primary desktop on both. In general, setting of second monitor is unpredictable after boot or resume.
Re: T41 duel monitor forgets setup
Hi. Grim. Do you have the IBM Presentation Director software installed?
I had a similar setup where once I got home, I'd dock my old T43p where a monitor awaited it. Before I installed Presentation Director, Fn-F7 merely cycled through combinations of different output devices. With the software installed, I had the option of having Fn-F7 invoke a menu that allowed me to create, save and select profiles of display devices, resolutions, color depths and settings like DualView, etc. It worked quite well for me and allowed one-click setup. Here is the link to the download page for IBM's Presentation Director software:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-46022
@TKUser: There should be an option in the BIOS Setup Utility (invoke by pressing F1 when you see the IBM logo) under Config -> Display -> Boot Display Device. These options control the ThinkPad's display selection behavior when more than one device is connected at boot-time. If nothing is connected but the internal LCD, it will default to it automatically. I'm not sure how this affects resuming, though.
Hope this helps!
