T43 interesting bios problem

#1 Post by fade2gon » Fri May 15, 2009 7:05 pm

hello all,
i have an interesting problem. I downloaded the updated drivers from zender for a T43 with the 1802 error and tried to install them. I follow all the directions and get to install and it says the update is not needed at this time and wont install the modified Bios. I cant figure out how to force it to load the modified bios. any help would be appreciated.
the problem seems to be that the bios were already updated with the IBM version and it thinks I am trying to update it with the same Bios.

Downgrade the BIOS to an earlier version first.

Right after booting from the CD. Instead of "command" type in "flash2 /U".

hmm i have the same problem with T43 - after booting from Cd it is loading IBM BIOS Update utility and there is no way to exit to the prompt and type commands. I have got the same message that there is no need of update the BIOS. So my question is "How to update the BIOS with this .FL1 file" ? If anybody has any idea let me know. Thank you.

Unfortunately, these BIOS updates are last from the "floppy generation", and as such only use 1,44MB space, where they ingeniously didn't put command prompt and placed the flashing utility directly as command.exe. I have no idea where to get matching command prompt executable, so I couldn't make the CD boot to command line.

However, I have added bootable CD versions of the original 1.28 BIOSes to the modified BIOS downloads, find them in the comment column.
