T4x motherboard problem

#1 Post by synchromesh » Sat May 16, 2009 10:02 am

I bought a T41 for my uncle a few months ago. The motherboard would freeze constantly so I realized that it has a GPU problem and bought another mobo from a forum member. It worked for a month or two but no exhibits a similar problem although the symptoms are a little different. What happens now is that the cursor completely disappears in Windows and the machine freezes completely. This happens about 1 per day so far. With the old motherboard same thing happened but cursor would stay on screen instead.

So my question is, could this be anything else but the motherboard? I figure if RAM was faulty, I'd get blue screens so it's probably not that. I changed CPUs several time on old mobo but used the same one with new one so maybe it's the processor? Any other suggestions?

Well, this could be something different. Do you have any known good memory you could substitute for your own RAM (you'll need to remove both RAM sticks - one on the bottom and one underneath the keyboard). Then you might try a fresh software install. Could be the GPU but it sounds a little different (as did the original).
