Fn+F4 problem ?

#1 Post by orlith » Mon Jun 07, 2004 4:35 am

Hi all

I've got a critical problem on my T41

When doing Fn+F4 the computer hangs during the process of sleeping.
The screen goes blank (normal) and then logically the HD sleep, but not on mine.

First of all I've thinking of an HD problem cos most of my T41 which got the problem are Fujitsu HD. But today I've found an Hitachi HD which had the problem.

When switching HD, the probleme still occurs.

All my computers are identical, last drivers, Win2K Sp4 French OS, same bios.

Any Ideas ???

Possibly a background process that refuses to acknowledge the Sleep Mode or a drivers that refuses to suspend itself.

Over and above the IBM utilities do you have any other programs
running in the background or in the System Tray ? If so try disabling/ stopping them BEFORE you do the FN + F4 in order to determine which one might be causing the problem.

Are you aware of the problems with version 3.21 of Access Connections.
Which version are you using at the moment. Do you have the same problem when you shutdown Windows normally ?

Did you buy the machine with W2K installed or did you install it yourself later. I am asking only to determine whether or not you could have incompatibility problems.

The only soft that were installed after Ibm was standart soft like Ms Office, powerplay.

There is no Access Connection installed on the Laptop under W2k.

I've try to close or kill all process running before doing FnF4 but no Change.
This is myself installation of Win2k.

I've got no problem during windows shutdown.

All my T41 are clones.

This is why I didn't understand.

My mistake, a thousand excuses on my behalf, slip of the keyboard.
There are/were problems with version 3.20, amongst other things Windows would not Log off correctly.

I concluded that if he were using 3.20 it may have caused a problem with the FN + F4 due to the fact that the user is "logged off / locked out".

Version 3.21 patched these problems.

Powerplay is not a graphic software but something for working with numbers.

No, I mean the utility that comes with the ATI graphics cards, that is presuming you have an ATI graphics card.

Powerplay is a utility for managing the garphics card when the machine switches between battery and mains power and can be found in the Advanced option of the graphics card.

Powerplay is inactive on both systems. It didn't change anything when I activate it.
