T42, plastic cover to bottom of lid?

#1 Post by skuehne » Mon Jan 31, 2005 11:13 pm

This is probably specific to T42s with 15" displays; I have a 2379-R9U.

Does anyone know what the plastic cover (2"x.5") towards the bottom on the top of the lid is good for or what's hidden behind it? Bluetooth antenna? The HMM doesn't seem to mention it.

That does look like the position of the bluetooth antenna. It also makes sense considering the 802.11 antennas are similarly covered by "floating" plastic covers on the top and right of the screen (though these are ridged).

It's exactly the position of the Bluetooth antenna! Good to know, thanks! That plastic cap on lid is somewhat cheap and even bulges a little bit outwards on my Thinkpad.

By the way, I initially thought the ridged covers for the WiFi antennas were there for better grip when opening and closing the lid ;-)

Thanks - and I always thought that this plate is supposed to bear an optional company logo or something :D
It's a trick. Get an axe.
