15" sxga or xga - which should i get?

#1 Post by Tiger » Tue Feb 01, 2005 12:37 am

I am getting a T series laptop to replace my i series laptop  . Currently I am viewing a 14" xga screen. I mainly use it for internet surfing, a bit of digital photography work and the odd letter. Would I be better off with the 15" sxga screen or the 15" xga screen? I have excellent eyesight as other ppl have commmented about sxga resolution. I am in Canada so my choice is between these two:

2378rcu - 1.7/512mb/40gb/15"xga/cdrw/fingerprint reader

2378reu - 1.8/512mb/60gb-7200rpm/15"sxga/cdrw/ fingerprint reader

The reu is only $300 more. My concern is whether the 15"sxga will be good for internet surfing or is sxga suited for other applications and one puts up with it while surfing the internet?

Thanks in advance for all replies. I think it will be a nice upgrade from my i series :D .

Get the SXGA+ you will not regret it especially if you are going to get a 15" and yo uhave excellent eye sight. You will be surprised how much sharper SXGA+ is compared to XGA.

No question about it. get the SXGA+. You have good eyesight. You're going to work with 1 megapixel+ images. You're getting the bigger, heavier 15" t-series. The XGA is not (I believe) flexview. There is no reason to go XGA here.

If you really like the lower resolution (as some truly do), you're better off going with the 14" version, and save a good amount of weight/size/battery life, or even more with the X-series.

If you're going to have a bigger screen, you might as well get the most benefit out of it!

I also vote the SXGA+, I usually need reading glasses but with my T42's SXGA+ display I don't need them since the display is wonderfully bright and sharp.
