Hi,
I noticed that the processor in my T42 runs at 1.7GHz (100%) when I'm plugged into AC power. It keeps my processor at around 56C, according to mobile meter.
However, I notice that when I run on batteries, the processor lowers its speed to about 600Mhz, which keeps the temp around 43C.
I was wondering, while I am using AC power, is there any way to have the system automatically lower it's speed while I am doing nothing? I have an Athlon64 desktop at home, and it has a "Cool and Quiet" feature where it will throttle the processor down to 800Mhz while I the system is idle, and then raise it as high as 2.0Ghz when I am running applications. Does the T42 (Dothan?) motherboard support a similar feature?
Thanks for your time...
