T41 CD Drive not working.

#1 Post by CarolinaLad » Sun May 24, 2009 6:54 pm

I have a T41 that is having a problem with the CD drive. When I look at the properties in the Device Manager, it says:

"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

When I try to do an update for the driver, it says that it can not find a better match than the one that is install. I have an odd feeling that some portion of the software and/or drivers has been deleted. I haven't been able to find the appropriate drivers online and so I purchased a System Restore CD for the T41. Since the CD drive is not working, I can't simply use the System Restore CD to install the drivers. I guess what I need to find out is either where can I find what is needed to get the drive working again... or what files on the Restore CD do I need to pull off the CD to put on the laptop?
