hard disk bracket

#1 Post by firefan » Tue Feb 01, 2005 6:19 pm

Hello,

I have an extra hard drive from my old laptop that I would like to use with my T42p. I am looking to buy the ThinkPad 2nd HDD Adapter for Ultrabay Slim (PN: 62P4554), but it looks like the drive will require a special bracket in order to fit into the Ultrabay adapter, and the bracket is not included with the Ultrabay adapter.

I called IBM but they kept leading me in circles between IBM parts, IBM tech support, and Shop IBM. It looks like the only way to get the bracket is to actually purchase a hard drive from them. Can someone confirm this or let me know where I can get the bracket alone? Thanks!

Search for "T40 hard drive adapter bay" on eBay. I just bought a brand new one for $57.50 shipped. It didn't need anything else added. I checked and found the same thing for $35 + shipping a few minutes ago... d'oh for me, good for you! :)

You don't need a HD caddy to put an extra drive in the 2nd HD adapter.

Just drop the HD in the adapter, seat it on the IDE connector and you're good to go.
