T42 Main Battery Rails?

#1 Post by warreng24 » Sat May 30, 2009 11:04 pm

On the T42, the main battery "slides" into position via two "rails" on each side of the laptop's battery bay.

These "rails" help to support the battery (instead of the battery connector).

I have managed to break off one of these "rails." I would guess that since the "rails" are part of the laptop frame, I'd probably need to replace the entire chassis?

I am just worried that without the "rail" helping to support the battery, I will end up snapping the battery connection.

I have a 9 cell battery, the one which sticks out the back, so it probably adds more strain than the 6 cell battery.

That sounds like a job for Black Duct tape. Honestly. How often do you really need to change the 9-cell battery ?? If you need to change a battery, get 2 ultrabay batteries and you can change them all you want ... :-) :-)

Lots of thinkpads (10+) but I would never be so stupid as to list them all because that would spam everybody's searches and people who *do* try to list them all would be jerks.
