Reload utilities or re-format T43?

#1 Post by dwallace » Mon Jun 01, 2009 9:16 am

Hi Gang,

A local PC fixer fixed my T43 but good, wiping the HD the old-fashioned way and without reinstalling Thinkpad utilities, safe partition and other good stuff. Anyone in the Boston-area want to meet or offer some hands-on time (about an hour or so) to check whether it makes sense to "do-over" this project and update BIOS, drivers, utilities?

I haven't reinstalled programs or reclaimed data from my back-up HD but will have to do something this week to get back to work. Now, to check if I have the install disks . . . .

Thanks
David

If the hard drives been reformatted I would just run the recovery CD's which would install all the necessary drivers. It would take about an hour. From there you could use System Update and Windows Update.

I would make sure your backup works before doing anything to the reformatted drive. If there is something important that you don't have a backup of doing anything else with the reformatted drive will reduce the chance of any recovery.
