"unknown device" problem on T43p
"unknown device" problem on T43p
Hi All,
I have just updated my T43p to Window 7. It's running well so far. The only problem is I can not find the driver which indicated "unknown device" in Device Manager table. Please have a look at the image below and give me your ideas.
P/S: My T43p's type is 2669.
Thanks.

Your picture is far too big - reads the pic warning.
In my experience, the last Unknown Device on a T43 is almost always the Atmel TPM. If you don't see it listed under Device Manager>System Devices download and install it from here:

Hi bb451 and welcome to the forums.
Just one thing to mention. It's against forum rules to have such large images - see http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=14339.
The rule there is:
5. IF you must add a photograph to your post, PLEASE limit the size to 50k or less and place a warning in the subject line.
Onto your problem. I don't run Windows 7 but have found this link which may help.
I would check you have the ACPI Power Management installed since this is a common question for XP as well.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Broke the .img tags on the OPs picture for the reasons mentioned. You must also add a PIC warning in the subject line of the thread.

I'll chime in to agree with the other two answers.
When I've had this, it was after reinstalling the OS from scratch, and it was the IBM PM drivers for those particular Thinkpads I had to install. This wasn't obvious because the Windows PM worked without error.

I think it is the Winbond TPM driver. Normally it should be in the "System Devices" section of the Device Manager.

Thanks for your support. I already downloaded and installed this and failed before I came to this topic.
I removed the image cuz I do not have any resizing tool on my Windows 7.

I did visit that link and saw some helpful drivers there. But still fail to solve the unknow device problem.poshgeordie wrote:Hi bb451 and welcome to the forums.

Thank you.
Re: "unknown device" problem on T43p
if it's the TPM, then why would you want to install drivers for it? Afaik, it's mostly useless
