Grey spots/shadows on sxga display on T22

#1 Post by cognacc » Wed Feb 02, 2005 9:45 am

I've bought a T22 on ebay, model 2647-AEU with a 1400*1050 display.

in each lower corner of the display, there are some small spots of grey shades on the screen.
It might be more accurate to call the spots shadows, the color seems dulled and grey.
The 2 "spots" are uneven and about 1/6 inch in size, they are right in the corners like.

S for spots ( no they dont have and s shape, they are almost triangular).

Another "problem" is that the display has a lot of "backlight" in the bottom of the display. about 1-1½ inch from bottom of display and upwards the screen has a lot of light.
It is only noticeably when colors on screen are very dark, but then the extra light is also very noticeable.
Seen from a distance the bottom of the display looks like it is rippled.

I now it may be difficult to "get the picture" without some real pictureas but i don't have a camera.
I've tried to explain it as best i can. if pictures is needed please say so, and i will try and borrow a camera.

Unfortunately this is the deal with all of the displays I have seen, I presume all of the displays (atleast SXGA+) have these problems.

You can also check if the lower part of the display has slow red pixels, my new display (got it changed) developed them again, about 1/10 of an inch, bottom left side, a wave-like form, that only are slow when the rest of the screen is black, and the lower side is then flipped from white to black, if the whole screen goes white and black, no such phenomenon appears.

The whole screen actually has gradient-like coloring, probably, as some others have said and is totally logical, it has to do with the backlighting tube being in the lower part and with the methods used to transfer the light to the rest of the screen.

Forgot to mention, that that my old display had the slow-red-pixels-wave problem in the whole lower region (1inch), so it bothered while displaying subtitles or text on a black background, the current problem is rather small, so it doesn't get in my way. Of course, if it does, I'll again go and demand a change.
