Bad Time to buy a laptop?

#1 Post by Sand » Wed Feb 02, 2005 2:30 pm

Hi, Can anyone tell me if this is a bad time to buy a laptop, with a new model coming out soon, as it may lower prices of current models, or doesn't it make a difference?

Also, does anyone have an opinion pro or con of slanted bottom on G Series, and purpose of it?

Thank you,
Sand

There's never a 'best time' to buy a laptop. If you keep waiting for the next-big thing or the next price drop you'll end up never buying a machine!

All I can say is look out for good some good deals. Rumour has it that Bill sells ThinkPad's ( ) so why not see what he's got on offer at the moment?

I can't really say whether it's a good or a bad time, because I don't know what you're looking for in a notebook.

As far as the G-series is concerned, they're the bulkiest and least flexible ThinkPad's around. Needless to say, they're easily my least favorite ThinkPad line.

Bad Time to buy a laptop?

#5 Post by Sand » Wed Feb 02, 2005 3:54 pm

The reason why I was looking at the G series is because mobility is not the first priority, but a desktop replacement. But since I've never owned a laptop before, all the choices of styles and specifications are mind boggling to me, so I am trying to narrow it down somewhat. I've been working on this for weeks, and have not figured it out yet. I just thought I could save on the price if they go down after the new models are released.

I use it primarily for email, research, etc. no gaming or music, but I would like speed, as it is not easily or if at all, upgradable.

Thanks for your help, I appreciate any suggestions,
Sand
