T42P Video question

#1 Post by MurrayShafiroff » Fri Jun 19, 2009 7:41 pm

Does anyone know if IBM ever made a t42p with the ATi 64 Meg GPU (not the 128 FireGL T2)?
If so, do you know the model number

Thank you

By definition, a T42p would have come with the 128MB video system. A T42 (non-p) would have the 64MB (or 32MB) graphics chip. You can search for some relevant model (TYPE) numbers in this document:

Or, if you have the TYPE number, enter it into the "Product Number" field at this site:

As Ray correctly stated, T42p equals FireGl T2...no exceptions. Period.

Of course, you can build your own with Radeon 9600 and UXGA LCD, I'm certain that it would work quite well...
